On our return we stopped off for a visit in Rovinj, another beautiful town with narrow steep cobbled streets leading you past artist galleries and gift shops to the top of the big hill where the main church stands overlooking the sea and more bays to swim and enjoy…. we like the water incase you hadn\’t guessed!:-)
All in all, we had a great time there, found the people very friendly and most with enough english skills to be able to help out. The driving was fine, finding our way around with road maps and signs and a bit of luck! The camping was good with plenty of choice of sites and the local food was very enjoyable… there local schnapps too is one to try!!!! The beaches weren\’t too busy, though staying where we were it was rather a rugged coast line so laying on the sand was a no go… but due to our excellent camping spot we could lay by the van and still enjoy all the sounds of a the beach without the sometimes annoying sand as they have mostly stone beaches
A good location for sporty types, with bikes and boats for hire, diving, walking, fishing and day trips out on the water. The towns have a great deal of history and old ruines/ buildings still stand with many multi lingual boards explaing the history, which was interesting. The cost of everything wasn\’t too bad with some deals to be found but over all, its a lot like other european countries. Building wise, its a lot like (sadly) a run down Italy in a lot of places, but as I say, they are working hard on the roads and in doing up the town centers to make it more appealing.
