Just Married! Part 4
My next favourite stop was Durness. The Campsite was one of the best campsites we stayed in. Again the views are Amazing, and there are loads of things to do.
From this campsite we took the Cape Wrath Minibus to what says on the ticket “the most remote point in Britain”, and believe me it was just wilderness surrounding us, we even saw some deer! We also visited Smoo cave and Balnakil beach, where I got to fly a kite! It was Awesome fun haven’t done it since I was a kid.
After this, we travelled along the top of the coastline heading towards Lands end stopping at Dunnet Head. The most Northerly point of mainland Britain. From here we were able to see the Orkney Islands quite clearly, and think in the 2nd World War there were submarines and ships patrolling the area ready to go into battle.
Then the decent from Lands end….. This marked the turning point in our camping trip and we felt sad as it was the beginning of the journey home. But not before having a quick stop in the Royal Burgh of Wick. I think Moonie enjoyed this stop and was as amused as us driving round town.
Had to get a photo of the Wicked van next to the Wick sign!
So south we went….
There was so much more we wanted to see on our trip, and the drive showed me my fist taste of Scotland. The Coastline is spectacular and the mountains have beautiful Lochs deep within them, throughout the whole journey the people were warm and friendly.
All in all a Wicked honeymoon, and we should say thanks to Wicked Campers for sorting us out and helping us have such a fun and varied journey around Scotland! We took your wicked van to Wick… It still makes me smile!
